USCET Asians in America Awards Dinner Celebrating Asian Achievements & US-China-India Cooperation March 17, 2016: Mayflower Hotel, Washington, DC

The US-China Education Trust (USCET), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting US-China relations through education and exchange, is pleased to announce its new Asians in America Awards Dinner series. The first Dinner is set to launch on March 17th, 2016, the day after the US Chiefs of Mission Conference when all US ambassadors will be gathered in Washington, D.C.

With Asia playing an increasingly central role in global affairs, Asians in America, who bridge the cultures of the East and West, have an opportunity as never before to encourage cooperation and understanding between the United States and Asia. In launching this Awards Dinner, we are reaching beyond the usual bilateral narrative to promote the importance of Asia; celebrate Asian and Asian American achievements in American society and international affairs; and highlight the US-China-India trilateral relationship – key to building a better and more stable global future.

About the Event

At this inaugural Awards Dinner, USCET will honor two outstanding Asian Americans who personify the best in Asian leadership and achievement. Dr. James S.C. Chao, shipping magnate, philanthropist, and member of the International Maritime Hall of fame, founded the Foremost Group. Madhaven “MR” Rangaswami, community builder and philanthropist, has been included in Top 25 Most Influential Technology Executives and the Forbes Midas 100 list of most successful investors. He founded the Corporate Eco Forum and Indiaspora, an organization dedicated to transforming the success of Indian Americans into meaningful impact worldwide.

In addition, we are pleased to have the Honorable Elaine Chao, the 24th Secretary of Labor, and Frank Islam, entrepreneur, philanthropist and civic leader, as our Dinner Co-Chairs. The late Honorable Sandy Berger, former National Security Advisor to Bill Clinton, served as Co-Chair during the planning of this event, and his widow, Susan Berger, will represent him at the Dinner.

The Awards Dinner will take place on March 17, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, with a reception beginning at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and remarks by Honorees and a Conversation with Ambassadors: Growing Cooperation between US-China-India, featuring distinguished diplomats, including Ambassadors Thomas Pickering and Nicholas Platt, Chairman of the USCET Advisory Council. Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the US, and his Indian counterpart, Ambassador Arun Singh, have been invited.

The event will conclude by 9:30 pm.

We are inviting US Ambassadors from the

Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs and the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, as well as

sitting Asian American ambassadors to help promote understanding and cooperation among

nations in Asia and to raise awareness of Asian American and Asian contributions to a better world.
